From the moment you were handed the artistic mar-tee-nee designed invitation for this annual event, you knew it was going to be well planned and executed.  Patti Bakhoven and Sharon Morris were the event planners who started brain storming many, many months prior to May 18 & 19  which turned out to be  bright weather days in between a rainy spring.

Patti the idea person and Sharon her talented co-chair, worked tirelessly on print materials, gifts, decorations, food choices and activities that made this two day tournament event outstanding.   The Mar-tee-nee theme was seen everywhere including painted posters on the tee boxes, martini glasses for drinks and food vessels, table decorations and the players themselves who wore shirts, hats, earrings and scarves with Martini designs.  Some even played in carts sporting martini glasses and steamers. The energy continued with a putting and pitching contest at the cocktail event and giving an award for team spirit at the awards banquet.

Hats off to the Carolina Trace Country Club staff.  They truly displayed their dedication to providing the players with the best event in the Sandhills golf area.   John Fairall, our general manager, Dean Allgeyer and Ollie Cortterell, our golf pros,  sported bow ties and beautiful suits at the fun cocktail party.  Our Chef Robert Hicks treated us to individual, hand tossed specialty salads with  each person choosing their fresh ingredients and dressings. A special pulled pork treat was available for us along with a bountiful bread table and crudité table. Top all of that with a delicious cheese moose dessert where guest could pick the toppings.   I for one would like to eat the same food over and over again, it was that good.

The Lake Course played in excellent condition thanks to the hard work of Tim Hart who joined us at the banquet.  He and his staff supplied us with the necessary chocolate to make even a bad shot feel good. Playing one best ball for each twosome in a four man team took off pressure to play a perfect round.

I could go on and on as there were so many details that made this event worth every penny and every minute of our time.  Hats off to the entire team who worked to make our time with our guest memorable.  A special thanks to Patti and Sharon for a well thought out event that from this reporters’ viewpoint, it went perfectly.  I know that my guest from Pinehurst was totally in awe of what Carolina Trace offered at this event and will recall fond memories when she sips out of her hand-painted martini glass with CTCC 2017 on it.
